Healthy snack options can be tricky. If you have crisps, sweets and cookies in the cupboards then your children are likely to know as much and expect those as snacks.
Not to say you cannot have unhealthy treats at home, but giving your children healthier options is vital.
Here are a few healthier after school or weekend snacks:
- Fruit kebabs and yoghurt – kids will love assembling the pre-cut fruit onto skewers. Add a bowl of yoghurt for dipping!
- Hummus and veges – a big tub of hummus presented with cut fingers of cucumber, baby corn, mange tout and baby carrots is a colourful and healthy dipping treat!
- Sliced apples dipped in honey and granola – the goodness of the apple, the crunchiness of granola and the sweetness of the honey make a delicious snack.
- Peanut butter and pretzels – smooth or crunchy peanut butter jar, some low salt pretzels and viola…your little one can dip and munch.
