Portion control snacks!

You know those old plastic eggs with the lids that open? Don’t even think of throwing them away!

Why, you may ask? Well you can use them as little snack holders! They are a very clever way to manage portion control too!

It also creates some excitement around eating. As well as offering a  variety of foods.

Instead of giving your child an entire bag of crisps or popcorn – place a bit of each in the plastic eggs.

If you want your child to eat some carrots as well as cheese and maybe some raisins too then place a small amount of each into each egg and viola………. you have an instant, exciting and colourful snack pack! It is far more exciting than having it all on one plate!

This idea is great for when your child has friends over, needs something to snack on when sitting in the garden or even when sitting and watching television or reading a book. It is a great idea too for a birthday party picnic! It eliminates sweet wrappers and mess.

Some snacky filling ideas for the eggs:

  • baby carrots
  • cucumber fingers
  • popcorn
  • grapes
  • crisps
  • raisins
  • sliced peppers
  • cheese
  • baby tomatoes
  • dry cereal (like oatees)
  • nuts
  • dried fruit
  • strawberries
  • marshmallows
